Each law enforcement unit shall—
(A) require law enforcement officer candidates to
successfully complete the prescribed course of instruction approved
by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center for law enforcement
officers prior to being authorized to carry or use a firearm or make
arrests as set forth in section 11(q) of the Federal Reserve Act;
and
(B) administer training and retraining standards
that ensure that law enforcement officers are proficient in the use
of firearms and other weapons as authorized by that unit.
