MERGERS AND CONSOLIDATIONS—Certificate of Publication
of Notice
Prior to approval or disapproval
of a proposed merger, consolidation, or absorption, a notice must
be published as required under Public Law 86-463, enacted May 13,
1960. To determine compliance with this provision of the law, the
System should be furnished with a certificate of publication. A suggested
form of certificate is enclosed. Copies of the form are available
to appropriate parties for their use. The notice of merger, consolidation,
or absorption may be required to be published in more than one community,
and a certificate should be furnished with respect to each newspaper
in which the notice appears. S-1745; June 8, 1960.

Instructions
1. Notice must be published in a newspaper
of general circulation in the community in which the main office of
each of the banks involved in the transaction is located at least once each
week on the same day for five consecutive weeks and, when published
in a daily newspaper, one additional publication on the 30th day from
the date of first publication.
2. All notices should
be published in the joint names of all banks involved in the transaction.
3. When the banks are located in nonbranch states,
the second sentence of the form of notice should be deleted.
